Hurst road, Milford on sea. Hi, I was out and about and ended up in Milford on sea and wondered what the fishing was like off the little beach there at Hurst road carpark. The access is so easy, and I know Hurst castle can be weedy, have any of you guys fished it, I thought I might have a bash Saturday night as I find myself free and the weather looks good for a line wetting. Any advice ?? __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: Hurst road, Milford on sea. quote, next to a bar called the marine, unquote. if thats the one to the left of the needles eye thats recently been refurbished where the shingle bank starts with the grey rocks, i used to fish that spot a lot, the tides like most of the area are vstrong and you have to watch that the flooding tide doesn't drag your gear across the rocks on your left. its a real big spring tide this weekend but hopefully this wind going s/easterly will clear most of the exessive weed which can make it unfishable especially at distance . unlike further up the bank the ebbing tide is strongest here. when the tide is running hard as long as there is not too much weed to cause problems this patch is still fishable in close ( 30-40 ft) for bass, mostly schoolies. or sole at night, night time would be better. fresh blow lug score for this and a few can be dug at the cut bridge , there's also a good king rag bed locally unless its been dug out again. rag/squid and fish baits should sort out a variety of species if they're about from here pout/dogs/bream and the usual suspects, chance of turbot/smuts/gurnard/ rays when in season. i also caught my 1st codling from here many years ago in amongst a haul of rays/dogs etc at about this time of year but i wouldn't get your hopes up, a neap tide on the shingle bank after a bit of a blow from the s/w is the best bet for a gold spotty along here. good luck m8 ![]() __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.

Re: Hurst road, Milford on sea. Thanks GeeJayy, I am going to fish the rising tide, not at distance because I am a rubbish caster, but I was planning on rag and squid baits and maybe a bit of mackerel fillet. might try a wedge in the surf if bass are about then, will need to pick up a spinning rod tomorrow from the storage . will report on how it goes __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: Hurst road, Milford on sea. hi that's the marine cafe/bar car park it can be a good spot only bother to fish the rising tide (as you are going to) on the run off you pick up weed i fish a few nights ago in the car park between the cafe's not much doing , it was a easterly i had a turbot of 2lbs and no other bites over 4 rods and the night before (sw) one slip sole no other bites there's a few small eye rays around but not the number i used to see there i prefer the white house section it seem s more reductive as a rule ive just started fishing again after a 10 year break and i cant believe how crap the fishing is at the mo when its is what was always a good time of year thinking of giving it up again and gong back to carp lol
