Dover Breakwater 24th september

had a small club comp on the brekwater 24th september, 14.00-20.30, weather was superb, out there in a tshirt, catching the rays seeing as i was not catching many fish, myself 2 whiting a single pout and a greedy mackeral gobbling my lug bait, oh and a lead pipe lol oh nearly forgot the star fish

Highlight of the afternoon must of been a red gurnard of just under a pound from maria briggs, and tom sullivan hooking a starry smoothound of 2lb 4oz, apart from that is was just the obligatory dabs, whiting, and pouting, but hey its good to be out trying rather than sitting indoors wondering what if

Sounds like a nice afternoon. Suprised there was no Bass about.
I'm dying to get out and do a bit but have a fire fighting course all this week. I might try and sneek out in the night one evening.

a few more weeks jason when the coddies arrive hopefully in numbers things should pick up greatly then, nothing like freezing your dangley bits off while hoping for that nice plump cod to grab ya bait

Can't wait!

I hope we get some Cod this year. It wasn't very encouraging last year.

That sounds like a nice day out mate, and a bonus lead pipe hope it put up a good fight lol!
I had a cracking fight with a 2lb rock with 6ft foot of kelp attached the other night

Can't beat a day out fishing, sounds like you enjoyed yourself! I was there too on the admiralty 6-11pm. Smashing weather but no real signs of cod yet, whiting and a lobster which really made my day. Can't wait to get out there again maybe late October hoping for the cod!

Only just taken up fishing in the last few weeks and I'm so hooked (excuse the pun) I've been there every week for the last three!

Love reading these forums as most of the guys are extremely helpful n I pik up a lot of tips.

if im not in a comp, i will endeavour to come along, 29th oct im in a comp, 22nd october, on a skittle teams jolley (bring on the beer and food lol) im in a darts comp on the 8th oct, unfortunately cant do any midweeks due to work
