After a bit of planning it was decided by Alan that a few of us were to head East and search for an early codling along the coast near Pevensey. I left here at 9 am to meet up with Jaycee and then head to Rovers for some bits and bobs and then our crab supplier over in Pompey Then it was off to the burger van for a cuppa and wait for Danny to finish work at 2pm.. Gear in van, biat sorted and it was off to Bognor to pick up Alan ( Browners ) who was by now pulling his last thread of hair out waiting for us to get him and get on the beach ..Anglers den Pevensey was our next stop and about 250 fresh blacks later it was off to the chippy for some badly needed grub .. great chippy if anyone finds themselves down that way .. It was rather odd that on leaving the tackle shop we bumped into one of the drivers from our crab supplier who had also driven down to Pevensey to deliver bait .. its a small world lol Langney point from above - ![]() We arrived at low water to find the water a good 15 foot below the high water mark and after a nosey around the harbour and getting set up we set the first baits seaward - more in hope than anything else as it was still light . Alan was first in with a new species for him - a damn weaver fish and soon after another oddity came in for Danny in the form of a 3 bearded rockling !As the tide started to flood and darkness fell the whiting came on the feed - didn't they just ! any bait, any distance - result = whiting .. singles,doubles,2 on a pennel rig and on a few occasions 3 at a time I ended up with 24 plus a jumbo pout - some good keepers for dinner so all was not in vain ! ![]() a couple of hours before high water Alan started to get troubled by weed on every cast and 30 minutes later had packed up to move 500 yards to our right between the groynes .. Danny who was next to him ( to mine and Johns left ) saw one bit of weed and decided he would just go to sleep - that was him for most of the night lol ..Oddly we were only 50 yards away and never got bothered by the weed at all - very odd ..Well, no codling showed , the whiting kept coming and Jaycee managed a couple of schoolies plus a decent keeper ..Alan had managed a few more bits form his new location and we called it a night at around 3.30 i think ? On the drive home Jaycee tried to mate the van with a tree and that kept us awake for most of the journey back to Hampshire ! Does anyone know why there are NO rabbits in East or West Sussex ? in two hours of travelling we didn't see a single one .. summit strange going on there me thinks !A great recce for some future trips - a right good laugh and a few fish to boot .. can't really complain ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting Last edited by scottish_and_mental; 09-19-2011 at 01:44 PM.

Re: Langney point Thurs 15th Sept 2011 Was on a boat out of Sovereign Harbour yesterday, can tell you that we picked up quite a few mackerel using flashers just off Langley point - 30/40m straight out from the breakwater marked with the red circle on your pic. Headed off toward Hastings and bagged up on dabs & pan sized plaice, fish everywhere out there so may suggest that there could be a fair few off the point. Will be trying my luck here in the next few weekends as want to try for a few Sole.

Re: Langney point Thurs 15th Sept 2011 Tried my luck there this afternoon. Monday afternoon, and nothing much to do as a day off, so thought gonna do some fishing at Langney Point, as I have heard some good stuff about it. Fished tide 2 hours in and 2 hours out, but not even 1 bite, nibble or anything else! Must have been the wrong time of day for the fish to be awake me thinks. First I thought, me newbie must be doing something wrong, but to my left there was a guys fishing with 4 rods arrived about the same time as me, and he left about an hour earlier, with not even a bite all the time he was there. To my right another guy with 2 rods, and just the same, not even a bite. A total of 6 of us there this afternoon, with not even a bite. Will try it night time by the end of the week, and see what it does then. Peter
