| Dungeness 09.09.11 Sorry no cod! Anyway, me and my mate Glen arrived on the beach at about 3.30pm and found the beach near the boats to be quite empty: ![]() ![]() After the recent reports of the odd codling coming out this week I expected it to be shoulder to shoulder but this is how it stayed until we left at 10pm. I gather that The Point was hectic. To the right of us was Shane Pullen from Sea Angler magazine and his friends and after having a chat with them we set up to fish the low tide up. Pulley rigs and lug/squid cocktails were the order of the day. I got my first whiting within 15 minutes of casting out and it was slow and steady throughout with a couple of quiet periods. In all me and Glen landed 17 whiting between us, 3 of which were keepers. Not hectic but an enjoyable session as it was mild and the wind had dropped. I lost only 1 rig too. Along from us, Shane landed a lovely sole then we watched impressed as he landed a 10lb bass after casting out only 30 yds. By HT at 21:30 it had died so we decided to pack up. Shane came over and chatted with us and shook our hands before leaving. Top bloke. In all it was a nice session and as always I just love fishing Dungie and can't wait to get back down there. |

| Re: Dungeness 09.09.11 Looks like a beach i wouldnt mind spending a few night on ! I met a guy at Selsey last year who was mates with Shane and he showed me pic after pic of some cracking thornbacks that they had caught between them.could well of been the same guy fishing with him .. Hopefully this weeks imminent hurricane churns the sea up a bit more and carries all the weed towards the US or any other place not near my rods - I have plans to snag a cod - preferably not one in breadcrumbs ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
