Saturday's Report.........

Sometimes things start badly and don't get much better. I woke at 5.20, exactly 1 hour after my alarm went off - I got to Poole harbour at exactly 7am, just in time to meet up with the other 5 from Blandford SAC.

We hit the first mark at 9.20am boom, 2 nice pollack around 7-8lb on the first drop, one to me - 'Get in' we thought. Around 4 hours and 4 wrecks later we had managed 7 or 8 pollack, one in double figures.

I also caught a red gurnard around the pound mark and 2 pout. One of the others had a baby ling about 3-4lb. I caught the pollack and gurnard on the blue 4" storm shad and the pout came on the drift to lumi jumbo hokkais baited with maccy fished on the bottom near the wreck.

A very poor day hindered further by the fog which prevented the skipper from anchoring. On the positive side, it was a league match and I won the boat with 1 pollack, 2 pout and a red gurnard and I think it puts me top of the table, but there's a long way to go!

Sorry no piccys this time, just as I flung the gurnard back in I realised I'd just thrown 1/2 point away for the species hunt, fingers crossed I get another this year.
