Town quay or lepe tomorrow?

Hi guys, got some rag to use up after Friday night so was thinking about hitting lepe but its all quite no reports at all. Town quay looks good but I've never fished from a pier. Was thinking of going for first light (if I can get my arse out of bed) and going for mackerel. Any advice from anyone on best spots to fish weights to use etc, as I said will be a whole new experience for me.

Cheers
Vicky

Re: Town quay or lepe tomorrow?

Ps just read about needing a good strong line due to having to not only catch the fish but get it up the pier too. I fish with 15lb line. Will this be ok?

I've only fished there once & I blanked
15lb line should be OK for the usual species, but i'd advise a drop net for landing fish. If you fish for the larger Bass under the pier you will need to step up your line strength considerably. Cuckoo's the forum expert on this venue. Try sending him a PM

Re: Town quay or lepe tomorrow?

Thanks for that. Don't really want to buy anything extra as I really can't see me fishing there that often. Like I said it's just to use up my bait ( which is rare after an all nighter to have left overs) and only a 10 min walk from home. May hunt around the house and see what my boyfriend has lying around that he's collected over the years lol
