West Bexington

Possibly going to west bexington next tuesday to target plaice. The weather forecast is a moderate 14 mph south westerly. Can anyone tell me if these conditions are ok for plaice or should I head for slapton that is sheltered from a south westerly?

The best wind from West Bexington is a Northerly off your back. The water is then "flat" and usually clear, that is the best conditions for Plaice. So long as the wind does not put too much of a chop on the sea it should be ok.

Best Plaice baits... blow lug tipped with a tiny piece of frozen black, then finally tipped off with a slither of cuttle fish.

Re: West Bexington

hi staps met office now showing 20mph full southerly will definately be too choppy for plaice, but other fish may still be out there
as smoothy said northerly is best there as fully sheltered (well as much as can be )then and seas flattenend

Re: West Bexington

Perhaps I should head to slapton instead! Do you know if plaice are being caught down that way?

Re: West Bexington

Went to west bexington in the end. Sea didn't look too bad until we got down on the beach. Ended up losing 3 sets of gear when the waves buried the line in the surf. Didn't catch a thing but still had an enjoyable day out. Will have to try again soon while the plaice are still around!
