attempt at brighton 10/8/11

last night the itch was bad,,real bad,,i needed to see the sea and fish..been in new forest for weekend and far too closeto croydon and troubles since then,,,

so nearest place i know from parents is righton

managed to pick up 3 of the most rank mackeral from the "fresh" fish counter sainsburys epsom ( how do they get away with it )

and headed off to brighton, being more sensible than i was in my youth when we used to race there and back for fun took a leasurely hour and was parked

looking at bbc weather before left knew a westely was going to blow, and tacklebox said west arm shut, ok east arm is fine

well get there and its blowing hard, proper hard, yep west arm is shut and crashing already with 2 hour flood still, so took long walk to east arm, and bu@@er me thats shut as well.., 2 guys were trying the wall beside so try it as well i would
well the rods and reels left at mum arent the best and the screw drive on the leeda( yep leeda) level wind screams like a banshee but i gave it 2 and a bit hours...not a touch

guys to my right ( useing lug not makkie mush) had 3 eels and a tiny pout , gave up 11 and found fodder before the hour home and many shut of roads due to roadworks
not a great night but better than eastenders anyday

tonight is definately mates and beer the fish can wait till weekend and maybe BC

Hi Dave,

Well done for sticking it out, shame you didnt have a touch.
But hey a beer with the lads and talking tatics is the way and as you say beats eastenders anyday.

Its disheartening when you cut into a supermarket mackerel and it just looks like mashed potato ..
