| Boat Fishing off Dover today. oh my god I am NEVER gonna do that again. I was sick 6 times and spent most of the day lying on the floor with my eyes closed. and i fared better that some. 9 of us went for the day on the 38 foot long 'Portia'. Its a 10 tonne wooden fishing boat. It took us about 10 miles off dover and we fished sand banks and deeper water. I only had 2 due to my illness, but over all it was a good haul with plenty of Mackrel, Codling, Bream, dab etc but never again..... __________________ I snagged.., 5lb tench, 25.3lb common, 16.4lb mirror , 2.2lb roach, 4 lb chub and 10lb Ghost. |

| Re: Boat Fishing off Dover today. Sad, very Sad, Not nice sea sickness, suffered with it once, went out in my fathers friends new boat, it blew up into a howling gale, skippers boy threw up all over my feet, I was only about 14years old. God did I feel ill, went to throwup over the side whilst Dad held onto my collar and got frightened out of being sick purely by my timing, as I went to throw up, simultaneously we went down into the biggest trough I ever thought possible, engulfed in a wall of sea, I remained unable to throw up purely out of fear of going over board!!!! Never was physically sick,(did I feel ill, though) but it was the first time I had experienced sea sickness, the family always had boats through my childhood and it certainly gave deep respect for the Sea. Dad said to me when we got back to land ," I really didn't think we were going to make it back to dry land Son"! Charming........ .Never put me off though. |

| Re: Boat Fishing off Dover today. Well done for trying good effort. I have worked at sea all my working life and have never been seasick. I thought I was a good sailor until I went on the Royal Charlotte last year. It was only a force 5 and the skipper Mick wasn't sure if we should go or not. I couldn't see what the problem was. I have worked on a small yacht of 22m and a coaster of 50m and sailed in all weathers. We left the western entrance and headed out to the Varne ridge. As soon as we got outside the harbour half the people in the boat started throwing up. The boat was slamming into the waves and chucking green water into the boat, it took best part of 2 hrs to get to the Varne. Once we got there and started to drift the boat was pitching and rolling viiolently but it was the up and down heaving motion which got me. I felt fine until I bent down to unhook my first lot of fish and lost sight of the horizon. I wasnt sick but probably went a funny green colour! The weather died down in the afternoon, I managed to fish all day and caught plenty of fish. Im looking foward to going again next monday. All the best.
