| Hayling Lifeboat 22nd July Evening All I took an impromptu day off work today and headed out to drown some worms. Venture down the the Lifeboat station on Hayling island, armed with rag, crab and a bit of mackerel. Got down there about an hour after low and as soon as the first rod was in the water it started rattling, but sadly nothing hooked, out it went again and while i was trying to sort rod 2, rattle again....thought i was in for a good day! Landed a small bream but couldn't seem to hook anything on the numerous rattles over the next hour or so, then all went quiet, the tide started racing in and the weed started catching. Did see quite a few scholes of Mackerel, really close in too! gutted i hadn't taken my spinning rod and feathers. Could have thrown a net out they came that close in!!! Was the first time i'd fished this bit and low tide too, did get off to a promising start! Anyways, was an enjoyable day in the sunshine, still chasing after a decent size fish, but i'm sure patience and persistance will pay off....maybe head out again tomorrow if the weather isnt too bad....... Anyone else catching anything decent off Hayling??? |
