I'm heading for Magazine Lane on Saturday, possibly moving to Lepe if I have problems parking or if it's very busy. If anyone is heading out then it'd be good to meet some people from the forum.

Well, as a fact finding mission I fished Magazine Lane all day today, which I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed.

I fished from low tide at about 9am until high tide at 5PM and, to be honest, got the square root of naff all, just drowning worms. I was all on my sweeney until about lunchtime but there were a fair few other anglers that joined me during the afternoon.

Having kept my eyes open on other catches, nobody was catching anything, other than a couple of schoolies off a lure for the bloke next to me (which he kept, despite looking like being well small, what can you say?), so very quiet.

The tide was pretty much full when I left but I then caught my first ever gurnard (all of 3" long) on my final cast of the day. The worm was bigger than the fish, so fair play to the little bugger. I had to cut the end off the hook to return him, as he'd taken it, barb and all, straight through the top of his head.

So, low to high fished and not too good, rag as bait and a basic bass pulley rig. Next time I'll fish from just before high to low and see how that goes. Lovely to be back fishing though, I can't remember why I've been away so long

the ebb can fish well sometimes at mag lane but weed can be a pain on big tides.

Yep, the weed was annoying at times but not too obtrusive. I'll get down there an hour before high next time and fish through.
