Talking Paddys Gap, Milford 13th July 2011

Just a quick report before i forget ....
Was dying to ge tout after buying two 7ht mags so decided as it was a small tide to head towards Milford..
Arrived just at the top of the tide and a trial cast saw me reel in half a ton of the Solents finest weed !
kept two rods out - one with half a large launce and the other with mackerel in search of a ray .
Nothing but weed came my way and i kept looking to the shingle bank and the headlights i could see , wondering how they were coping as its usually much worse when its weedy
The phone rings and Rob says " is that you over at Paddys ? "...
by now we have a knack of aiming headlight beams at each other from half a mile and comunicating almost through morse .
After making his way form a profitable earlier sission he kindly dropped me off some ragworm that looked like they needed the kiss of life
Perfect for scratching out summit different i thought and deployed a 2 hook rig with size 2's towards the back of the sand bar ..
2 hours into the ebb and my first set of rattles producing this 12.5 ounce Sole -

then about 30 minutes later a similar rattle and i was convinced of another Sole , only to see this little fellow come up the sand -

No sign of a ray but i wasn't dissapointed - the new reels were flying , i'd sat in just a jumper on a glorious night and caught a couple of little fish to round it off .. Town Quay calls tonight with more sole and bass expected !

Well done Steve & psychic Rob, that's what mates are for.
A really, really, good mate would have delivered a kebab as well.
