We came, We saw, We Congered

[Chopper]

Following a week of banter half of team DILLIGAF arrived in Plymouth to meet up with an old friend to try a bit of congering, followed half an hour later by the other half of the team (Leigh is getting a new watch for Xmas lol).

It was blowing hoolie but fishable-Just. We were all set up fishing by around nine when Jamie gets a hit and its fish on.

After a short scrap the eel is on the surface and was not a happy bunny and was going mental, drop net deployed over the side only for the line to part. On closer inspection all around the break the line was fraid, not good on 50lbs mono.

Was this a sign of this to come, I hoped not.

Things went quite for a bit with a couple of little knocks but nothing serious.
Around twenty past eleven it was my turn to hit a run. First of all I thought it had gone to ground only to find that the ground was actually moving albeit rather slowly, all of a sudden this thing had now woken up and the power felt on the end was mental. After a few heart stopping moments the eel surfaced and a few minutes later Jamie hauling it up the bank, only to hear his ratchet start to scream off lol. Leigh ran over and hit it but it was to late this eel was already gone.

Totally buzzing and shaking like a Shi@@ing dog it my eel went on the scales at 19lbs 6oz smashing a pb and I think a new forum record, a few photos and back she went.





Now we were all buzzing, while trying to put some new bait on I heard one of Jamie’s reels start to scream again, this time he hit straight in to in - and soon had the eel on the surface again the net was deployed and after a few moments was in the net.





The fish was unhooked and put on the scales, the jammy little beggar had beaten me again his fish hit 20lbs dead, the fish was returned and so did the banter.

A really good night with good friends and am already looking forward to the huss session that was planned.

well done guys , sounds like a cracking session ! well done on the PB and the 20 ... good luck with those bullies - a target of mine for ages !

Eels aren't really my thing , however that was a cracking shore session. It's always great to knock a PB out like that. Well done!
