with solent tides at stupid oclock hartley and i had to look further a feild and so headed for bornemouth and an eleven oclock tide , much better than 4am at lee on solent.
arrived at 8pm to find surfers all over the show enjoying the breakers that were steadily rolling up the beach, driven by a stiff wind that had gone westerly from an earlier s/w direction.

baitwise we had what ever was left from this weeks earlier exploits, namely 1 large frozen mackerel, 1/2 a box of squid , a dozen hardback crabs and 3 oiled black lug.

the evening dragged on & on with not even a bite to show for it. at lest the surf was manageable with next to no weed and the surfers stayed out of out bay

in between sorting out hartleys tangles & knackered reels and trying to decide if it was worth staying we noticed his rod go over, off he scampered down the beach and the way the rod was hooped over i suspected just weed but to proove me wrong he beached a just sizeable bass of 2 1/4 lb on a squid head which resulted in him giving me a load of stick with regard to my status as blanker, by now it was about 00.30 and between the high tides.

for a long time it looked like i was going to blank but about 2am opne of my rods pulled over and it felt like a lump of weed was kiteing off to the right, but then it turned and went left i guessed it was fish after a bit of a splash about on the surf line i'd beached my own bar of silver, unfortunately the cameras packed up so i had to take some more shots this morning when i got back.

mine went 4 1/2 lb . result.
