Bass Attack!

Fished Weymouth beach with a few pals Thursday evening. Originally Was going to fish Chesil but with the 25mph + gust sw winds, decided didn't want to be hit by the leads coming back at us after casting out from the there. We did have a look but as soon as we got to the top of shingle, we were being blown back down the beach towards the car park, so all agreed to head down to Weymouth beach for a bit more shelter from the wind.
High Tide was just after 7pm sea was a bit lumpy and mercy, so all 4 of us baited up and got our leads wet. Martin and Nick were using rag and not sure what Paul was using, I had come prepared with live Sandeels in a bucket and my Ron Thompson bait pump.(EbayŁ7.99 free p+p) "Bargin" I was on the hunt for a nice Bass.
After 10mins or so Paul decided to get his dexter on the spin.
We noticed a shoal of mackies swimming past us just under the surface by the time I got some feathers on my second rod they had headed down the beach towards the Pier, didn't stop Martin following them down there tho !
All seemed quite Then Paul hit in to a Mackerel with his trusty dexter wedge, not many mins after another macky for Paul.
Seemed like spinning or feathering was going to be the way forward so Martin joined Paul for some spinning while nick watched, light had started to fade and wind was picking up a bit but I was not put off.
We was joined on the beach by a dog walker who wanted to spectate the fishing and chat about what we fishing for and what methods and baits we were using and I was happy to educate but by now I was getting fed up with talking about catching fish and not actually catching one
Then I had to answer a call from the other half and give her an update, Pauls got 2 mackies and nothing to me not even a bite.
Then, no sooner had I got off the phone I noticed a sure bite on the rod tip, pounced on the rod and pulled back and struk hard, started to reel it in and was getting some pull back and a bit of a fight kept reeling with excitement Martin, Paul and Nick had noticed my excitement at this point And the spectator whom I had been chatting to was stood watching, (even tho I was smiling I was thinking, please, please, don't come of fish please!)
Everyone gathered round at the edge of the shore to watch my bass come flying out of the surf and I was well pleased, decent size at first glance, got it on the scales 2lb on the dot measured from tip to tail just over 45cm. Thank you very much to the live sandeel that gave his life and put in the effort to help me catch this beautiful fish thank you and rest in peace.
Everyone buzzing from the catch and all was looking promising for the rest of the evening Martin asked if he could have a sandeel as obviously they working .
Now everyone was stood poised next to their rod waiting and waiting and waiting then Nick hit into a bass 1lb in weight not sure how long but was return'd to fight another day, then about 30mins later nick hit into another bass but smaller than the last and return'd back to the sea and off it swam.
Paul had left by now as early start for work in the morning and Martin was just happy to come along for a evening of fishing even if he blanked.(So he says, Catching just a bonus ay m8?) then after a nice hot cup of coffee and a change of tactics by Martin he soon landed a nice Pouting so all in all a good night on the shore but well chuffed with the bass even tho I didn't get another bite after that was glad I had got what I came for, packed up and homeward bound just as the rain started coming down at 1am.
