Hounding with Cuckoo 14/6/11

I managed to tempt Cuckoo off the nest for a crack at the hounds and maybe a stinger. I collected a few hardbacks and a couple of softies and bought some rag along too for the stingers. We had a couple of hours of daylight to fish the last of the flood and concentrated on the rays with worm baits but had no takers in daylight.

High water and darkness arrived and I missed a bite on a softie which I put down to a schoolie at the time. Next cast I baited up with a hoofing great softie and I had a similar bite, bit of slack which I tightened up and picked the rod up, then a little rattle before a big pull down and fish on. It put up a great scrap, took a lot of line and had me climping groins to finally land it 25 yards down the beach. A nice double of 12lb 14oz.

Lee was soon in and landed his first of the night again with a funny tentative bite, most un-hound like! He was enjoying a rare outing and ended up landing 5 on frozen softies and frozen peeler, a double eluded him on the night though. He did insist on a photo of each hound but I can't be arsed to host them all, so here are a couple:

I only had the one (missed) run on hardbacks, peeler and softies were getting the bites on the night. We left after an hour of the ebb as we both had stuff to do the next day. No stingers but I did manage a couple for the species count on the worm baits intended for them:
