| Was staying close by as a birthday treat from the missus so thought it would be a poor show not to take the old Gal fishing on the beach (as you do) Two rods out, one with mackerel strip, the other with sand eel, weather pretty rough but not too bad so three hours on the flood and another one and half on the ebb, not even a bite, when the tide is fully out this beach is like a desert, just sand, flat as a pancake sand for as far as you can see, not even the odd rock. Three sessions in total, two early starts, and the highlight of the day was packing up and having breakfast !! |

| Re: Carne beach, SW Cornwall darkness is the key on those beaches unless its blowing a hoolie and you can find a bass feeding in the surf . those 'featureless' beaches need investigating for any sandbanks or gullies where the sandeel hang out - this is where you find the bass and the flatfish .. I'm not a fan of the area unless its pitch black or im over the rocks pulling out clonking ballan wrasse ! unlucky sessions all the same .. ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
