| Dovers Eastern Arm. 13th May 11 With the misses at work and the kids at school / nursery I decided to escape to the arm for the day. I fished the Warren in Folkestone on Tuesday and blanked so needed a confidence boost. I kept the left over ragworm from the warren in the fridge but it died, I decided to keep it and give it a go anyway. I arrived on the arm at 0930. High water was at 0800. There was a good tide running when I arrived so was in no rush to set up. The wind was about 15-20 knots from the soth west. Just about managable. I used 2 beachcasters with 1/0 2 hook flapper rigs baited with fresh ragworm and a boat rod with a 3 hook paternoster rig with size 2 hooks baited with dead ragworm. I tried spinning and feathering for Bass and mackerel with my bass rod but didn’t have any luck with that. I have been using 30lb braid on a baitcaster reel with the bass rod and got a little over confident at the Warren and suffered a crackoff. I salvaged the braid but had to tie a knot in the middle of the line so decided to put the braid on a fixed spool spinning reel but kept getting wind knots. I won’t be using that set up again, multiplier works a lot better and trouble free if you are sensible. I had loads of Wrasse on the boat rod down the wall. The first was a cracker. I think it was a Cuckoo. Nice size too. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]I had several Ballen Wrasse sometimes in double shots. I had a Goldsinny and Ballen at the same time. Some of the ballen were a nice size as well. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]On the beach rods I had the usual Dogfish followed by double shots of Dogfish but then I got lucky and pulled out a little Stary Smooth hound. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]I only had a couple of pouting all day, not too bad but had several star fish. At about 2pm I had a call from fishypaul. He said he was going to pop down and wet a line. His target was a Wrasse, witch he caught and a PB. [IMG] [/IMG]All fish returned, Nothing for tea but a real fun days fishing. __________________ ><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><((((º>¸. ·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·.. ><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><((((º> |

| Re: Dovers Eastern Arm. 13th May 11 Good session, I like your set up for protecting your rod and getting better bite detection, simple and effective. Brilliant report. ![]() I went down the same road with the Braid, bl**dy pain! |
