| last night Rich and Myself decided to try for hounds at branscombe again as the wind had dropped right off weather report was for rain going through and clearing 9-10ish and winds less and S/S,E so it was raining when got rich but thats ok we had shelters and soon we were on branscombe , straight over as too be honest i couldnt be assed to walk far ![]() soon we were encamped and game on water looked good and 1 1/2 hrs till high and NO WEED ![]() ![]() both fishing 1 rod bling and lug for plaice/anything other for me was a pop up for bait and rich had unknown to me sneeked a sneaky crab out already and about 1/2 hour over high bingo rich is in first hound of the year a common about 3lb ![]() but now the clouds were more than ominous, infact a huge thunderstorm was all arround us, would we go would we stay, we kept judging the situation and in end stayed as sussed it would miss us JUST i did try several pics of lightening this was a s good as it got ![]() but apart from 2 short sharp bursts of rain, due to the way we were in a dip between 2 hills, the storm passed either side of us( exmouth got properly wet so i heard) and the sky cleared the at last i get a bite after dropping bait in alot shorter range and get my first smoothy of year a puppy starry about 1lbish ![]() then i missed something much bigger ![]() and several more missed bites for both of us and finally a slightly bigger starry of about 2 1/2 lb for me we gave up arround 12 as ran out of crab and had gone pretty quiet a funny old night, target fish caught and some dazzling light shows from mother nature oh and found out this morning that the clonking noise that started on my car is the handbrake shoe collapsed ( oops) ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: hounds in a flash ( and a bang and a whallop) It was the best light show I've seen for a long time. Great forks of lightening, but fortunately several miles either side of us. Not that there weren't one or two concerned looks from the pair of us. ![]() Now here's a question for the forum...... If lightening always finds the shortest route to an earth point, wouldn't the hundred feet of hills and cliffs directly behind us draw any strikes rather than them hit the beach directly? Has the foot of a cliff ever suffered a lightening strike??? (Not that I ever want to test out the theory, but it did get me thinking whilst sat in my metal framed shelter, waiting for the flashing and banging to stop!) Eventually it calmed down, but with it the fishing seemed to dry up too. Bites became harder to come by, so a tactical withdrawl was decided upon! Not many fish, and of no great size, but good points for the hunt and above all, the hounds are back!!!! ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen.
