Dovers Eatern Arm 6th May 11

I popped down the Eastern arm on my own for a couple of hours, after being stuck at work for two weeks it was nice to get out in the sun and do a bit of fishing.
I used Rag worm, squid and bluey as bait. I tried a pulley pennel with bluey but as usual I didn’t encounter that big one! I caught lots of dog fish and pouting on a two hook flapper, some of the biggest pouting I have caught yet.
I fished a rod down the wall with rag worm and caught a few Wrasse. The first one I caught had a slightly different face and had a spot on the tail, not sure if it’s a different species to the ballen. Maybe zzonkers will know.
I caught a few Mackerel as well. I used a bass rod and baitcaster reel loaded with 30lb braid, it was really fun using braided line. You can feel every knock and pull.
When I arrived it was an hour before high water and was alive with fish. As soon as it hit high water at 1300 it went quiet. I stayed until 1500 but didn’t get any more mackerel or wrasse just the dogs and pouting.

Jason, I'm not hot on my Sea species, but I think you'll find that first Wrasse is a Goldsinny.

Yep No1 is a Goldsinny heavy with spawn by the looks of it, I think the second one is a Ballan.

Bit of a result with the goldsinny. I will add the points tomorrow, Im thinking of popping down again tomorrow evening.
