| A very smutty weekend My self and Leigh went out to target smooth hounds on Thursday night, we were both thinking that it may be a tad early but we were both of the same opinion that if we didn't try we wouldn't know. We got to the mark and set up for around half seven, things were slow to start then at about ten we started to some small knocks. A little later I had a nice pull down and landed my first smutt of the season a stary of about 3lbs.  The fishing for the next few hours continued with a mixture of both stary and common smooth hounds with the ever present dog fish thrown in for good measure.  Leigh had the biggest one of the night a nice stary weighing in at 8lbs 1oz, A new PB for him and was well chuffed.  We ended up with A total of 9 smooth hounds and made plans to return on the Saturday night. We returned on Saturday night with high hopes. When we arrived at the mark we could see the mackerel chasing bait fish so out came the feathers and landed a few for some more points lol  I also landed one of these which is a first for me, which I think is a herring???  Darkness came and we fished through the night with pretty much the same results as Thursday night. Both species of smooth hound were caught,11 in total with the biggest going to 7lbs 15oz which I'm glad to say I had.  All in all it was a cracking couple of nights fishing and I'm looking forward to going back to. Oh nearly forgot I had one schoolie bass.
