at long last it was time to fish again, unfortunately other members of the team couldn't get away till late hence the target area of milford -highcliffe had to be scrapped coz we wouldn't make the tide.

by 213.15 we were away and heading for a 4am high tide at burton with thoughts of inevitable doggies & macky at dawn if nothing else.

although this was an exersize in hunting rays , i also had another task which was field test the reel that dad had just given to me as his arthritic hands can't use multipliers any more.
stripped , cleaned serviced and sorted out but does it work??

either way the three of us- Hartley,Keith & myself were set up by about 01.00
left of the carpark
to one of my rods i strapped my sportmag and furnished it with a long pennel pulley
while the other got dads abu seven 'c' and after bedding in the line a 1 up 1 down.

baitwize we had squid /mackerel/sandee/blueyl & blacklug.
with a new moon that rose late, thing looked good for a ray but the wind was light north easterly and the sea like a mill pond.

first blood went to keith who caught a pout ,hartley soon followed suit leaving me as blanker fighting with dads abu , just couldn't stop trying to guide the line onto the reel despite it still having a level wind

soon i evened the score card with an lsd,
and over the course of the morning drew ahead by catching 2 more,
eventually i got dads reel wound up and singing & was achieving a reasonable distance with it ,
however further catch results were poor with just the 2 dogs and a slug at dawn for me & zilch for hartley & keith

i tried hard for a mackerel at dawn but nothing doing some other anglers arrived early armed with lures but i saw nothing caught.

we quit at 07.15 , brown snotty may water was noticable all tide. i'll be glad when its gone.

just one piccy today and thats the slug for the specie hunt.
