| Cracking day afloat Picked up my mate Pete at 0730 and was soon down loading his boat up at Langstone. The plan had been to head to Selsey and fish for Plaice but due to the tides we still headed east but to one of the banks hoping for Bream. As we headed out through Langstone run we passed a boat drifting for Bass, in no time at all we saw them pull in 3 so stopped for a drift ourselfs to no avail. 30 minutes later we arrived at the chosen mark about half a mile off Selsey. There was already 3 charter boats and about 5 private boats fishing so we found a decent spot and dropped anchor down tide of the main group. Bait was thin strips of squid on size 4 crab hooks. We didn't have to wait long for the first bite, as I puled it in I was surprissed to find it was a decent Garfish and not a Bream. After that the Bream came thick and fast, all of a good size with the odd cracker thrown in. At about 1200 the action which had been non stop slowed, and then went dead. It was time to bring out Petes secret weapon, his bait dropper full of chopped squid minced mackerel and oily bread. Guess who had to fill it it was rank Anyway about 5 minutes after the stinking mess spilling onto the seabed my rod arched over with a trebble shot of bream, two 2 lbers and one at 3lb. At about 1330 we moved to have a go after some Plaice but soon returned to the original spot, you don't know what you've got till it's gone We were straight back into Bream, with lots pushing 3lb, they really do fight hard on light gear and a few were lost at the boat ![]() By 1600 the pouting were out in force and we were both knackered so we called it a day. Total for the day was- 39 Bream, biggest 3.5lb (well done Pete )1 Garfish 2 Mackerel (Summer is comming) ![]() 3 Doggies (Pete took them home to eat) Minger1284 Pouting ![]() It's days like this that make all the crappy ones worth it. Pictures will be up soon. ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us Petes tiddler ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us [/IMG] Uploaded with ImageShack.us __________________ One day i will post a catch report again. |

| Re: Cracking day afloat Fantastic days fishing. We wont see Bream like that down our way for at least another month if not longer. But they do stay around a lot longer than the ones in the Solent. It's not unusual to catch them still in early November. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk |
