The brothers at Dover

Had a family day at Dover POW isn't it nice fishing ing sunshine

Dropped a mini rig down the wall to start with and then set up the beachcaster and was into pin Whiting straight away they were everywhere and taking any bait EXCEPT those very small Squid.

The dabbling rod was very quite except for Swimming Crabs and a small Lobster.

Then I had the tinyiest rattle and reeled this in:



And then this:



So that was 2 new ones for the year

Tried a big Squid/Mackeral bait on the beachcaster but despite plenty of rattles nothing would take it , when I reeled in the Whiting had stripped all the mackeral from inside the squid just leaving an empty shell.

2 different types of Goby came out but not on my rod I then had these 2 on 2 casts:




And a Tompot Blenny which I never photographed which is a pity cos it was another species for the comp.

What is that first fish?

Nice mini species fishing!
Im going to try using Ragworm down the wall on the P.O.W when I can escape from the daily routine!
What size hooks did you use down the wall? Was you using squid as well as Rag down the wall?

You need small Carp hooks 10s and 12s and I use Rag and Squid but separate not as a cocktail

Put that up for fish of the month. I have never seen one of them before. I am very impressed. Would love one of those for the species hunt.
