| Couple of mini sessions 10&11/4/11 On the 10th I was hoping to get down to Lee on Solent to try for a thornie. I ended up getting there late and was fishing by 10.30 an hour later than I planned. Fished crab on one rod and bluey on the other. Soon had a few little pulls on the crab rod and on the retreive it had a bit of weight and a few little kicks. First ray of the year and target achieved, albeit it a very small one. ![]() Had a couple of similar bites on the next casts and got a call with a minor emergency at home so had to end the session at just over an hour! Next day I thought I'd see if I could get the thin-lips I seen a couple of days earlier at a local mark on the Itchen. I dug some harbour rag and tried a baited mepps for the last two hours of the flood. Was a windy day and I couldn't see any fish, I also fished a second spinning rod on the bottom. I had taken a couple of schoolies on harbour rag on the bottom and then something hit the mepps just before it came into view and dived hard. Not a mullet or a schoolie but a flounder! Great little fighters on the right gear. ![]() |

| Re: Couple of mini sessions 10&11/4/11 Nice one Rob. I have noticed that the thin lips do not seem to feed until they have been in the brackish water for a couple of weeks at least. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk |
