Dogs of war at charmouth

well last night it was another hunt for an early ray

weather and conditions were glorious for Charmouth, a bit of a S/e blowing but we would be sheltered down under the cliffs

rich had crab.lug and sandeel

me sandeel 99% of the time and 1 try with mackeral

to start 1 rig was a 1/0 pompey, other 3/0 pulley

and on came the dogs, apart from a a few pout to the small rig just as hungry as the dogs , so both rods went to 3/0 rigs

and still the dogs came

I have no idea how many we had it was a war of attricion , cast i rod other had a dog on, recast other ones off

trouble is you need to get through them to find the ray

but we gave up at midnight enough was enough

people on platform having exact same problem so we werent alone

maybe something different next weekend

this may just make things better though


put this up as rich was haveing a mare and he hates Floyd(heathen) just to rub it in

At least it was a busy trip Dave.
We struggle all winter for a pin whiting to beat the blank.....
then enjoy the arrival of the doggies for a week.....
all too soon the dogs have become a plague as we hope for rays.

Tomorrow the spinning rod will get another trip out to try & get some sport from them.

Dogs are everywhere Dave , 2 days out on the boat,300+ dogs ,met John for another early ray attempt ,a dog a cast ,even on 4/0 pennels....

sounds exactly like my night session on sat down here,every cast had a dog on the end when brought in we had 5hrs of it..
