| 8/4/11 bexi bexington 8/4/20011 thursday nights session got disrupted due to a mixture of family & apathy meaning that i missed the best of the tide , which was a shame because conditions were spot on for a solent ray hunt with those big thornies at the top of the list. as a consolation i got a pass to fish friday, had to be day because i'll be back to work sat morning. family buggered about again and we were late away , - daylight fishing,- only one place worth a go & thats chesil for a spotty flattie arived at 3pm, which looked to be about low water, bright saunshine no wind & flat calm. i hadn't worried to much about bait beach & daylight didn't leave me too optimistic, just grabbed a quick selection from the freezer, finding mackererel/squid/black lug. parked up and left the wife n kids to it while i wandered off right handed to set up about where i fished with sandspike johnny the other year. strapped a 4oz and whishbone to one rod , baited up with black & squid then heaved it out. adapted another whishbone for a 4oz d-vice and let fly with that, then sat back in the sun. both rigs were trotting left to right nicely by the time the 1st one had dragged around and i felt the need to start retrieveing it i noticed a little knock on the 2nd rod , thought it was prob crabs od the lead on the move & so didn't worry. the 1st cast yealded a fish , not a big fish but a specie i've not had for 5 years or so it was a flattie but not a spotty one ![]() ![]() caught a littledab on the stickyblack & squid tip re cast that rod and check the one that had had the knock , felt heavey, fish on, but it was a bloody surprise on a whisnboned lug n squid tip, taken on the drop i'd guess. ![]() ![]() it was now about 3.30pm , there then followed a biteless 4 hours till dusk, when i started getting the odd bite to sandeel but failed to connect , gave up at 8.30pm one crack off but 0 tackle loss as it was recovered. other anglers returning from further down towards cogdon reported spider crab mayhem with snipped snoods , but i had no sign of them where i was. i really wanted more/bigger fish but it was good just top get out in the sun __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
