Mountbatten 4/4/11

well for some reason( well ok had heard of thornies and conger from there nuff said) i decided to use my big pass and try mountbatten breakwater in plymouth





now at this point i should have thought twice as it was a tad blustery, well actually was a full on SW which means stright into the end of the breakwater at a good 20+ mph

but i had a plan
so headed down

its dead easy fishing and theres even bait staions made up for you


fishing the inside may have been wind behind, but its also big rocks infront, so i opted for the front, still rocky but you can clear once tides up





so i set up stall useng daves patent hold the tripod down bungie ropes



i tried hard for anything in daylight and was getting lots of stonking wrasse bites but only connected to this wee fellow( but still points)


come the dark it was pout central on the small rod( well 2/0 and sandeel) other conger rod had 1 half run for nothing, but snagged 2 sets in attempt close in

after tide changed surf got up and was clearing wall a bit

so decided enough as was still a war of attricion with the wind

so a nice tan from the windburn and still bait left in fridge for tommorrow and 1.5 points( even if no ray or conger)

Nice one Dave and the first Wrasse of the year for the species hunt I believe.

I love fishing Plymouth, it reminds me of my old Navy days. You did better than me today. I fished again at West Bexington into the same SW wind and once again blanked.
