t/q 20th march

went to town quay with ashley & hartley, high tide was for about midnight
we had rag/lug and squid for baits.
it stayed a dry night and the quay was fairly quiet with few other anglers.
we started at about 7pm and fished through till about 2am.
we knew it was gonna be a scratchy night so small hooks were the order of the day.
first blood went to asley with a whiteing of about the usual stamp for t/q ie, bloody small.

hartley followed with another of the same sort o size,

nothing else was caught for some hours leading to a fair bit of stick regarding my status as a blanker.

the early couple of fish were caught in close, but as everyone else left the quay by 12.30 leaveing room for me to wind up some bigger casts.
i stamped my authority as prime angler on the other 2 by landing first a pout

then huge yting ,of at least 8 1/2 inches
followed by another 2 pout for a massive 4-1-1 stomp . all done by 2am and left for home.

is it wrong to wish for dogfish ??

Re: t/q 20th march

To wish for a dogfish? Well I have caught 1, in about 18 odd trips to the coast and 2 boat trips out of Hayling Island. I have heard people getting wound up by them, but as they ignore me, (as other fish do) I have found myself wiching, just to save a blank.

Well done Gord. Did'nt think you were a fan of Town quay. Thinking of having a go there myself when the larger Bass move in.

i've never made any claims to sanity it was me who had such ideas as;-

1, multi mega pulley rig - which worked

2, the clipped down mega distance anchored float rig, which might have worked , but you can't see to float when its 1oo yards away, unless its flat glass smooth calm and you concentrate hard. .

3, calamari, lightly toasted on tilley light , when starved at hurst shingle.
