| Samphire Hoe 19th March 11 Fished Samphire hoe today with my Mum and my 6 yr old Son. It was a slow day as far as the fishing went. We fished 5 rods on the bottom between us. My Mum managed 2 and I looked after the other 3. We used pulley rigs with pebbles as weights. We used 60lb mono tied in a large loop then passed one end of the loop back through it self to make a kind of slip knot which went around the pebble. We then tapped it in place with insulation tape. We then attched the home made weight to the trace with 10lb mono and hooked the loop of 60lb mono onto a rotton bottom clip. While this was time consuming I did save us a small fortune as the bottom is very rocky. I only lost a couple of traces but loads of pebbles! We used 30lb mainline straight through on the reels. We diddnt use floats in the end. We used lug tipped with squid. We arrived at about 11am just after high water. My mum caught a large edible crab. (The only thing worth keeping! Well done Mum!) I caught a small coding, not quite big enough and a small wrasse. Not the most productive day. But the weather was good it was nice to have a day with my mum and son. My mum is learning and is getiing right into fishing. My son gets bored after 10mins but was well behaved today. I think that will be my last session this month as I have to go to work for 2 weeks on Tuesday. All the best. J [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG] |

| Re: Samphire Hoe 19th March 11 Thanks Paul and Mike. Shame we diddnt catch any big fish. It is a bit early for the Hoe but its a lovely place to fish and child friendly so I think I will use it a fair bit this coming summer. When we arrived we asked the ather anglers what they had caught and a few dogfish and small codling had been caught at the bottom of the path from the car park. we headed to the Folkestone side, to collect pebbles! We fished the west corner just before the quay starts to chamfer towards the beach. Thanks. Jason |

| Re: Samphire Hoe 19th March 11 Well done mate, can you get down onto the beach at the folkstone end of the hoe? It`s only a short walk from the Blackwall and might save a long walk in the future. __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!! |

You can walk along Samphire hoe and onto the beach and carry on to the warren. You have to pay for parking at Samphire, not sure how much it is. My misses dropped me and picked me up. All the best. j |
