Re: chilling spit advice please!!

i normally fish where the old gun battery used to be which is at the start of the spit. this time of year normally sees a few flounders and a bass from there. sometimes the bass can be a decent size. there are also pout, rockling and maybe the odd whiting at night. i would use ragworms for the flounders and mini species and lugworm for the bass. hope this helps mate.
matt.

Re: chilling spit advice please!!

i know the odd plaice turns up now and then but not many, i would think the best time to catch one if any would be either late spring (april/may) or around autumn time. but be warned there is usually quite a bit of weed around at those times of year. i would of thought the best place to catch them is not actually on the spit and more to the left of it on the open beach. the spit itself is generally best for bass, on the main beach all sorts of species can turn up in the summer/autumn months.
