A couple of short sessions

The fishing still being quiet I decided to have a go for Flounder, to add another species to this years list.
Monday I was at woodside by 1pm,a hot spot for them.

2 hook flappers with lots of bling and rag for bait. I fished the tide in and an hour of the ebb, four and half hours without a bite. Not such a hotspot.

Thursday I'd heard that some Bass were showing locally to squid, so I was set up by 5pm, it was wet and windy but nothing ventured and all that.
Whole squid on a pennel on one rod the other was a flapper with what Rag I had left from the weekend.
Well I had plenty of small Rattles on the rag but nothing to the squid, though the crabs seem to be in so hopefully the fish won't be far behind. 5 hours and still fishless I called it a night.

Friday the rain finally stopped so I headed off in search of a Bass or flounder back to Seaview.

Was set up by 4pm, high water being 6pm. It was still very windy but putting the rods low in the rest I could hopefully detect bites. Sure enough just after dark a bite and a school bass was in. Well I gave it till 8pm with the tide ebbing fast I decided to move back to E-Cowes, winding in I found this fellow on my hook, a new species, a 3 bearded rockling.

Arrived back at E-Cowes and the flappers went back out and almost straight away I was getting small bites, struggled to hook up but by 10pm when I had to leave I'd managed another 3 Bass, the biggest being just over the pound, so all in all a good night for the time of year. Nice to see the schoolies are in, hopefully the better fish won't be far behind.
Hopefully will be out again Sunday evening.
