| A whopper finally Was graciously given a pass, so arrived at Yaverland by 5pm Wednesday, Wasn't expecting anything really, so had scratching rigs on both rods, one baited with worm the other with strips of squid and bluey. Couple of guys turned up from the Island forum and joined me. We managed to pick the only part of the beach that had weed on it, but keeping the rods high and the lines out of the surf it was fish able. As expected there was no action, not even a pout rattle, until about 10pm when I saw a very small rattle and in came my first Whiting of the year. And what a whopper. ![]() OK so it was not that big, but I was happy that for once I hadn't blanked. And it was just nice getting out and wetting a line, which is the important part. |
