| A lesson in futility Friday the plan was to hit the back after a Pollock which I know are there, but being billy no mates couldn't find anyone to go with, and not fancying the climb down on my own I ended up at the East-Wight. Two venues that normally produce plenty of bass and flounder this time of year. Four and a half hours at the first venue followed by five at the second resulted in not even a nibble. Undaunted by the lack of success Saturday found me at the other end of the Island, freshwater bay, looking for a Bass or Pollock. After four hours I get a little nibble on whole squid and actually managed to land a fish, this rockling ![]() Well it was a start, unfortunately it was the end also, at silly o'clock in the morning I packed up without any further bites. Monday after doing a mornings work I was down the Duver, a well known Flounder mark, by 12.30, conditions looked perfect. ![]() Well after 5 hours and again not even a nibble I called it a session. Tuesday and yet another go for the Flounder, this time the mud flats up the river, another good spot for them. ![]() Four hours later same result, nothing even the crabs weren't feeding. Wednesday had another biteless 4 hours. Not sure if its stuborness or stupidity that keeps me going, the wife reckons it a bit of both. So after 31 hours watching my rod tips they moved once and resulted in a slug. There's no fish left round the Island, I give up. Or there again! |

| Re: A lesson in futility Hard luck mate. I saw the picture of St Helens beach and recognised it immediately. Last time I was sea fishing was two groynes nearer the church. Always great to see pictures of the island so please keep the reports coming. I think reports of blanks are just as useful as baggin up sessions. Just as well for me :) __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |
