chesil 9th december

8pm found myself & Hartley trudgeing along the shingle with the temprature a balmy -0.5 c, the new moon had just set leaving a brillient star feild and not a cloud.
the plan to hike along the shingle to the bridgeing camp was cut short due to an eager need to start fishing coupled with fatigue,( i was bloody knackered by the time i'd got beyond the 1st black hut, t'other side of the bird nesting area) so thats where we went over.
this week, due to the demise of my 7ht & a duff tip ring found on my lighter awb, i was fishing the usual awb129pm / abu 6500 sportmag combo' along with an old pksc 2 / shimano speedmaster, with the hope that the shim' behaves itself for me.
sadly the sea was damn nigh flat with a light n/e wind & high tide for 22.30ish

baits were squid/ herring & enough black lug to choke 1/2 a dozen double figure cod.

the rigs i used were- 6/0 pulley pennel, 3/0 up n over pennel & a 3 hook flapper with size 2's.

from the start the venue was fish rich with double and tripple shots of poorcod on the flapper, and the occasional one which hung its self on the bigger hooks of the pennels,
live baits didn't produce either, the onslaught of poorcod tailed off about midnight then it was dead till about 2am when the ebb started to get stronger .
then a solitary pollock?, might have been a coley, i'll look at the piccy in a bit , put in an appearence after a short misscast + the occasionall return of the poorcod epidemic.
gace up just after 3am & walked back .
these treks along the bank always seem a bit of an adventure with high hopes and good prospects but this one left me cold.

t'ill i started the walk back anyway
hopeing it won't be the last trip of 2010, coz i've got to drag my dad out for a flounder hunt now his replacement knee op' is starting to settledown.
