The Mutts Nutts Codding

I was invited to fish with Trev aboard his boat The Mutts Nutts yesterday,

She's an Osprey 24' (photo was taken earlier this year)

Trevs mooring is tidal so we met up at a very civilised 0800, crew Peter, Trevs Dad Electric Dave, Trev and I, the forcast was to die for
F2 all day, a small tide 3.9m so hopes were high of a fish filled day, armed with a cupper we slipped the mooring and made our way down
Fareham creek.

An hour later over went the hook and big squid bait were sent down for our targets Cod, Peter was first into action, his rod slammed over
and he had a scrap on his hands,

she went 7lbs, pout came on the feed.........

I should mention that Trev, ever the gentleman elected not to fish keeping us supplied with tea and sausage sarnies, Peters rod went again,

he re-baited and with in five minutes...

I'm sure hes whistling, Dave and I looked at one another, we were getting pout Peter was having a red letter day. At last I had a solid bite
rod went heavy and I couldn't move the fish, it stayed deep.... cod its gotta be cod, big one too, then the fish woke up line poured of a protesting reel
my heart sunk bloody eel.

around 45lb. Went quiet for an hour then

17lbs. Dave was still playing with the pout, then Peter again,

and again

He was getting boring now, at last Dave joined in,

It was getting late and the sun going down,

We fished on but to no avail, it was time to go.

Many thanks Trev, a day to remember.

Total catch 3 cod, 2 Bass, 1 smoothound, countless pout and around 18 eels (gave up counting the bloody things)

Tight lines.
