| Late Report. Tuesday 9th Nov. Noodles had organised Mox and me for a fishing session on Weymouth beach on Tuesday 9th November. After it rained most of Tuesday was in two minds about going but after being informed that Mox was bringing a bucket of live sand eels, I decided to grab some frozen black lug and 5 peeler Crabs that were crawling around in the salad tray of the fridge.(Bait for the Cod open, on Abottsbury that I had to miss, due to a better offer.) Arrived at the Rocks at Green hill for 6.30pm high tide was at 8pm, winds were high but some cracking waves and good surf, quick phone call to Noodles and we decided to fish the Preston side of the rocks. Was only then I realised had left my head lamp at home and could not see a thing as it was pitch black on the beach, plus the wind was coming straight down the beach from Bowleaze cove towards Weymouth town, this in mind went to the other side of the rocks, complete shelter from the wind and street lights lit up a spot on the beach for setting up. Mox turned up 2 min's later followed by Noodles just after that. We all fished for an hour but after the forth seaweed fish I had caught, we decided to head down the beach and set up nr the pier bandstand. We all had a couple missed bites but no fish So a change of tactics and swapped my uptide rig size 5/0 that I was using for the live sand eel to trusty old 3 hook flapper, size 3/0 hooks and baited up with some black lug, within a matter of mins I could see something was attacking my bait decided to strike and reel in, was certain had lost it in the waves but then there it was... ![]() I thought to myself a fish none the less but come on was not worth braving the cold for. LOL Any way put the Pouting back rebated and cast out over Noodles a couples of times, winds fault not mine. Soon after Noodles gets a good knock on his rod and strikes and brings in a good sized Whiting. "A keeper" Sorry no pic for the report. Mox decided to call it a night, as he did not want to miss the last bus home, packed up and said his good bye's, just as he had left the beach I was pouring a cup of tea from the flask only to look up and see my rod bend right over, hot tea scalded my hand as I dropped the cup and flask and raced towards the rod didn't need to strike as the fish was hooked but strike'd any way to make sure. Could tell it was a nice fish and was worried I was going to lose it in the wave's, could see it frashing about on the surface, so excited, I try'd to call Mox back at the same time and felt like I had turned into Robson green from the fishing programme on TV. I Was well Chuffed when it was on the beach, even more chuffed while eating it for my dinner on Wednesday. ![]() ![]() __________________ 1 2 3 4 5 once I caught a fish alive, 6 7 8 9 10 then I let him go again....
