| Abottsbury 10th Nov 2010   Arrived at Salisbury train station to pick up Danny who had travelled up from Portsmouth ( now thats dedication  ) and set off to find a decent fish on our planned visit ti the teeth . Wind was forecast as a light north westerley and the air temp was down,pressure was high and the moon was on holiday - all looked perfect ..On arriving at the car park it was evident someone had cottoned on to our plans as it was full to the rafters .. The fun began when we diecided to trundle via the scenic route to the teeth and ended up crossing a farmers field, a river , two fences and a 10 foot drop off trying to reach the bank which we could see less than 50ft away  Needless to say we were trapped and had to cross said obstacles for the second time ( this is what happens when you cant be bothered to put your headlight on  ) As we crossed up and over it was evident that the teeth end was full as well as the section from the car park left but we ended up about two thirds of the way up and settled down for what looked like a promissing session .. Bait was black lug, fresh outs, peeler, squid,mackerel and limpet .. The session started off well enough ( apart from us both complaining of frozen toes ) with Danny into a decent whiting and a nice sized poor cod for his list .. I had big baits out on both rods and was in no moiod for compromise .. By 9.30 the tide was up and so was the 'breeze' that by now was a westerley so after moving the buddies up the bank and swinging them round It was Danny again with another half dozen or so whiting and a little pollack.. A bit of mackerel saw my first fish and a little later a por cod to start my attempt at catching the whiting kid .. As the bank started to empty ( those i spoke to had managed the usual species but no cod ?)....... well, apart from the one Danny had now mananged What a specimen !! large head ....but .. then just backbone and tail - not even any eyes ! not only had he pulled in a small poor cod but also the remnants of someone elses filleted codling ..Well that forecast for a huge weather front arriving thursday was looking worrying as by 11.30 it started raining and the wind by now had gone right round south westerley and was blowing a hoolie .. ( only us two were left on the bank - hell , we had waterproofs and wernt about to give in )O.k , we gave in .... By 2 am it was a full on torential maelstrom and we beated a retreat back to the sanctuary of the car ( being phyisically blown right up the bank with all or kit was a great experience and deffo saved any effort ) .. Back to mine for a coffee, couple of hours kip and then it was little un to school and Danny to the train .
