Chesil 06.11.10, and a trip to the hospital

Team dilligaf were due to go to chesil on Saturday which I had to opt out from at the last minute... On the friday night my foot went 'pop' whilst walking to catch the bus into town for a few beers... Didnt think anything of it until 22:00 when the pain was agony and I had to go home... Upon removing my shoe's and socks my right foot looked like this



Swollen from the big toe to above my ankle, with a rash spreading up my leg... A trip to the hospital was the only place I was going on Saturday morning... A quick text to chopper at 06:00 to say that I cant come and I was off the the hospital..
Which resulted in a 5 day stay, Xrays, Ultrasounds, Needles stuck into my toe to draw out fluid for analysis and being pumped full of 2 litres of antibiotics each day + pain killers , countless doctors,consultants,phsycians,medical students and tests ....One consultant took a look and said for as long as I've been working in medicine he had never seen anything like it.. ... Anyway I am home now and on the road to recovery... albeit with a limp and a bag full of drugs + more tests in january !

.. They were very interested to know where I had been fishing recently.. I dont think they wanted to listen to my catch reports... Just to see if there was anything nasty lurking in the nearby area.... I told them that I only go fishing with Chopper so nothing to worry about....

p.s.. If you go walking on woodbury common and you end up with a rash like that get to the doctors/hospital right away as they say there is something up there casuing infections when people get bitten by bugs or the bracken/heath is causing it ... No joke so if you do.. Get to the hospital.

Anyway ! Back to the fishing !!

Chopper made his way up to chesil on his own and had a good day with 6 cod.



He went back on Tuesday night into wednesday morning and had a furhter 9 cod and 3 bass... Good fishing mate !

Im bloody itching to get out fishing but cant really walk at the moment

Sorry I cant expand more on the fishing... But I wasnt there so its hard for me to do so ! :)

Sounds like you have had a tough time of it! It looks like my ankle after my footballing injury last year, looks nasty what ever happened it.

Strange as the fish caught on Saturday were alot smaller than the ones we had on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Question for Leigh though, why would you take a picture of your foot resting on a grotty pair of Y fronts mate lol

Nice one Chopper. A land based session this time or were there "craft" involved again??? Either way, it was a good return mate.

Hope the foot is better soon mate. How long between being on Woodbury Common and your foot going pop? I did the Commando challenge up there recently and you've got me a touch nervous now.
