Fishing at Calshot.

Going fishing tomorrow at Calshot with my gran. Not a regular so would like to know what fish are around and what baits to use???

Going during the day so not expecting much but will try to put up pics if I am lucky enough to catch anything.

Does anyone know any spots near there or along that beach which might be a bit more productive, if so please tell as it will be a long journey back if nothings caught.

Tight lines.

you're gonna really struggle up there during the day fella.. is there any reason why you're going to Calshot specifically ?
bait wise stick to rag and squid or mackerel and yo umight get lucky with pout, dogs or the odd early flounder plus school bass ...
by all accounts its gonna be a bit blustery tomorrow too- im out in the evening but still unsure where to fish !

Re: Fishing at Calshot.

Why we're going to Calshot I don't actually know. I guess it's the nearest place to where I live or something like that.

I'll try some rag and squid as bait and like you said, might get lucky and catch something small, but to be honest I would be perfectly happy with that as i'm not expecting much.

good luck with your fishing this evening.

Tight lines.

Re: Fishing at Calshot.

the are a lot of whiting though the solent (some bloody good sized ones too) at the moment and thay seem to be feeding more in day light than at night.but these will only be in the deep water. rag , mackerle and squid should all work for the whiting.
also round on the shallow side(looking out at power station) the should be some scholl bass and if your lucky a flounder or two, but use rag only on the shallows.
good luck

Re: Fishing at Calshot.

If you're in Reading there are loads of places closer fella !! if the sea still has a bit of colour then you should be fine with the whiting keeping you busy. ive had a fair few for my tea lately !
Im not actually out till tomoz nite so if you get a chance let us know how you got on - good or bad
