Re: this friday

BEN,

Dont fish 3 rods ,thats a bit mad my friend.
Use 2, your find yourself working too hard and you wont enjoy it.
2 rods is plenty, after all what happens if all 3 rods start bouncing out the tri pods?
Also you've got to remember which rods need bait changes, this can be confusing at the best of times, I colour code my 2 rods with different reel coasters, it works a treat.
see pic below, although not too sure if you can see them.

Re: this friday

well it wasnt a masive success but it was good fun
i got down to the beach at around 10.15, hw was at 12.45 and a bg 1 at 4.8m
on arival the water was flat calm with not a puff of wind, with a nice cover of mist and a little bit of moisture in the air

then disarster struck, the boat you can see on the very right of the picture is a muscle collecting boat. the way they do this is to zig zig 1 bit of the coast draging to big metal racks across the sea bed ripping everything up. i fished at this point for about half an h and decided it was pointless carrying on here so i moved alittle bit over the other suide of the spit to fish onto mub with the hope of getting a flounder

i carried on here for about 4hrs untill i ran out of bait, o yeah, the bait was peeler crab, hermit crab and rag worm
i had 1 bite and caught 1 fish from here, the bite was very strange, i was getting afew knocks so i struke, and nothing, the line had been chewed through acouple of cm below the leader knot with evidence of definate chewing, i think there must have been some sea weed on the line which a schoal bass took a liking to.
the fish caught was a small rud, where i was fishing there was a small outlet from a fresh water lake. the rud was traped on the salt water side and almost dead

i risked my life climbing out along a thin concreate thing to catch it in a plastic bag and releae it into the fresh water side, it looked like it wasnt gonna make it for a while but then it swam off happily
i was wondering if i get species points for that?
all in all not a bad day but could have been better, gonna go further up the river on sunday to try to get away from the boats

Re: this friday

ben...the muddy side have you ever thought about float fishing the bottom?..how deep is the water?
looking at it there must be flounder in there and the benifit of a float is it drifts so you cover more ground your bait is always on the move which can also attract the attention of a flounder..its just a thought but it works in the harbour here
