got to pagham about 10pm . the wind was gusting straight along the beach . wich made casting tuff . had all the usal baits , lug , crab and squid . had 1 set up as pully/pennel and other set up as 2 hook distance . high tide was 2.46 am sat there with out so much as a knock till around 2 am . then it came alive . every cast with the 2 hook distance , the rod went bang then slack ( prob helped by the wind ) every time i lifted into the rod . there was a small bit of weight was getting hit by whiting , all a good size and doggies around pound and a half . there was as good as no weed , which made life easier . then 1 cast the pennel loaded up with lug and crab edid the same . lifted ito it and straight away was heavy , with the odd kick . thought this feels like a small codling . how wrong was i . when this bloody great cod come surfing up the beach with my size 4/0 hanging out its mouth . waves or no waves i was straight in after it . was buzzing big time as you will see in the photo ( self take )
she weighed 12lb 6oz . get in there . 2 trips to pagham and 2 cod ............. then at 3.30 am went dead again . never had another fish till i left at 6 am . so in a hour and a half i had 11 whiting , 3 doggies and a proper cod .................
