Lepe 9/10/10

decided to fish lepe on sat night despite words of warning about the weed. we made the long walk up to the stone point and from the start i had a feeling it wasn't going to be a great night due to the easterly winds and weed.
8 of us fished together in total and we started about 18:30 and fished right up to high tide which was about 00:30.
the first couple of hours was pretty quiet with nobody getting any bites, after that dry spell a few bites started to rattle the rod tips right up till high tide, but it was very patchy.
in total between us we had 4 pout, 3 smoothound, 2 bream, 1 rockling and 1 dogfish. i myself catching a pout, dogfish and bream. also lost a big bite which managed to take the line into the groynes and lose my rig in the process. 3 others managed to produce a blank.
mackeral seemed to be the best bait of the night as both my bream and dogfish were caught on a whole fillet and most of the other catches were rag tipped with mackeral.
the weed was about but it wasn't as bad as what i thought it would be, you could certainly fish through it.
all in all not a brilliant night but just nice to be out and catching something.

Re: Lepe 9/10/10

yes it certainly was a good laugh with 8 of us, just a shame we can't get big groups of us to do it more often. it was like a mini match but without the bitching and secrecy!

we parked in the small parking area on the beach outside the main car park. as there were 4 vehicles we were able to double park each other. to be honest i wouldn't know where else you can park as i have only been to lepe at night once before.
