Alum bay 9/10

After picking Nick up Friday we were down Alum Bay by 7pm, it looked perfect for a Conger, the sea was flat almost oily and it was going to be dark.
Both rods were set up using running ledger's one with 6/0 pennel with whole cuttle for bait the other would be a 6/0 with chunks of mackeral or whole squid fished in close for a bass.
Things were quiet at first but then Nick started to pick up the odd Pout.
Checking my bait the crabs were having a feast stripping large baits within 10 minutes or so. I stuck a whole mackeral head and guts out hoping this would last longer.10 minutes later and the drag atarted to move, the rod nodding as something started chewing on it, I waited for the fish to take the bait but after 5minutes of playing with it the fish buggered off with the bait.
By 1am things were quiet so a quick pack up climb up the cliff and 15minutes we were at Freshwater bay in the hope of a bass.
Again it looked good for our quarry, with a nice surf running.
Whole Squid and large chunks of mackeral went out.
Nick was soon in to thepout and a silver eel.
3.30am Nick caught a small pout, perfect for live bait.
So I pinched it off him.
But the tide was well out now and the water was getting pretty shallow. 4am I roled my last cigarette and was then going to call i a night, when the rod with the pout hung round. And finally I was rewarded with a Bass of 2lb 10oz.
Excuse the poor photo as left the camera at home and had to take this on mobile.

After that we called it a night.
Off local tonight in search of a bass or two.
