Wrong bait...

It wasn't long till i realised that i had taken down the wrong bait to fish a match yesterday evening...should of taken more time in getting the bait instead of drinking all day on the saturday!(well it was my birthday though) lol

anyway fished a local match last night and knowing what's around at the moment i thought i would give it a crack with just lug and king-rag! on my second cast i had a tap..probably a flounder but nothing special...missed that one anyway! it carried on for about 1hr of consistent tapping every cast so i decided to go down to a little smaller hook! wasn't long till i hooked into one of these fish that were ripping at my bait as quick as i could put it in the water and wow i sore what i had been wasting my time on...lol the smallest rockling i think i've ever seen!

The night carried on the same with undersize flounders and undersize rockling...had one decent knock before i packed up an hour before the end of the match! as for my mate....he took white rag, rock rag and lug and was picking up the better flounders rockling and had a few in his bucket...least i know for next time...to take more time in preparing myself and getting the right baits for the job!

ended up with 3 flounders and 3 rockling...nothing in the bucket

all i can say is at least i got some points for my team \o/ lol

Ollie.

Re: Wrong bait...

Bad luck mate, bait type and presentation is something I'm working on too. Same thing happened to me on Saturday night down at Seaford, caught nothing else but small rockling, couple of them double-shots. I was fishing for flatties too, but nothing but constant rattles, when I struck...nothing

Re: Wrong bait...

I wasn't expecting to do that well in the match anyway as that's the first time i been fishing for months...took me ages to find my match ruler and even forgot to charge my head lamp battery up last time i used it so that was pretty dim aswell! lol all in all was a bad night!

will have to do a bit more fishing before the next match and try get it right!

Keeping records is a good idea though mate....many peeps should take note as it does help! i know im gonna be looking back at mine in the future!

cheers

Ollie.
