weather was looking good and all though tide was late ie ,2.20am . i went dug some lug . grabbed some squid from the freezer and some crabs . loaded the car up and went to pagham . started to fish at 11pm was thick cloud , so no moon , but not a breath of wind . fished a 2 hook up , down , out to the horizon with lug and squid and lug and crab . the other rod was a pennel/pulley rig out to the horizon , loaded with lug suid and crab ( was a big old bait ) both rods never moved till just before 2am when the tide started to move . when my 2 hook rod pulled over , to what looked like a classic smoothie bite , so was suprised when i landed a bass just under 6lb . result , was worth not having a bite for 3 hours .
then the weed turned up and was to say the least a f*****g night mare . could only fish close in and even then only lasted 10min before i had to reel in . then at around 3am the weed went . so pushed them back out . straight away . the pennel rod went bang , then slack . though could it be a cod ??? oh yes , just over 2lbs . get in there

happy days i thought . how wrong never had another knock till 5.30am when i packed away . im convinced if the weed did not come through like it did , there could of been more good fish ? but at the end of the day was worth going at the very last minute and was nice not to be pesterd by the pouting for a change
