 ESAA West Bay Comp Report well as stated yesterday was the BIG ONE at west bay with big prizes Unfortunately numbers at comps this year have been low, wether entry costs, distance or just plain lack of fish this year( as said havnt weighed in once this year and other comps been tied up with brothers wedding etc) so it was really no suprise that there were only 12 fishing so ended up being just a normal comp anyways i digress the wind was steady westerly giving a good lumpy sea , with weed close in baits were rag and lug tipped either squid or makkie till dusk then the whloe sandeel and mackeral chunks came out i fished slap bang centre of the beach as thought the tide would reach the cliff( it didnt  )  and were treated to a great sunset as ever for chesil sorry naff picture  dureing daylight things were rubbish, with only 2 undersized and rig ruining silver eels  but as dusk fell....a bite a proper bite...and a 1lb 10 doggie...the curse was broken i could actually weigh in at the end this was followed by another at 1lb 12 then at just before 10 the ratchet on the bass bait( makkie in close) went off at a rate of knots, and yes this was more like it( think the whole beach knew i had a fish as couldnt get clicker off for ages  and yes a bass of 4lb 9 oz   time to try out self photography again attempt 1 + total black..muppet put flash on attempt 2 a tad quick  attempt 3 better  after that i was desperate to add anything and eventually had a 10oz pout and a 15oz eel( yukk ) come the weigh in i was feeling pretty good, other fish caught had been bass, pout, eels, dogs and a sole and was well chuffed with 2nd place ( beaten by 1 percentage point it was that close)and a few quid in pocket to cover bait, but then got best bass as well ( which had been sponsered by Si..club sec who couldnt fis) dead chuffed and very generous by Siso winner was Paul and Darren came 3rd  and to top it all won a bottle of rose in the raffle as well  so all in all a great night should have done honiton kebab but found haribo and coke in car and had weird dreams all evening as sugared right up  and as for tea this eve, well thanks to my lovely ever pass giving Mrs abilities in the garden we had a "free meal" and glass of wine and lets not quibble about all the previos bait cost etc   dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives Last edited by pingu; 09-14-2010 at 03:10 PM.
