swanage

took the kids to swanage friday, took a wander around the town then along the peir where i got chatting to a novice & got quizzed about how to set a slideing float properly for his daughter,
by the time we were leaving the pier she was landing her first pollock so that was a result.
after a bit of scran i left the wife and kids to it, grabbed a rod and wandered off to fish i fished along the section between the pier and peveril point coz the pier had shut.
after a dozen or so casts i just pretty much lost interest, dunno why , just packed my kit back in the car.
& went looking for the family, carnival vestivities had just started with a wheelbarrow race & looked a right laff

A twelve inch bass upon a plate
fils honest anglers with righteous hate

half dead mackerel by the score
should never be left upon the shore.

Tobleton is on a distinguished road
Re: swanage

I know swanage pretty well as I grew up down there, and I was down in early june for a spot of scuba diving and to catch up with the old folks.

I was trying out some new kit so I did a few gentle dives around the 2 piers.

there was buggerall around the main pier, but the old pier was teeming with good sized bass and mullet - they weren't shy of me at all and came up very close when I took out my reg and blew a few gentle bubbles - I didnt take a rod, but the thought of buying a speargun did cross my mind lol!

very interesting, i'll have to go back somewhencoz i've a plan for the beach as well.

i did note the no spearfishing sign on the wall next the the boat compound though,

i wandered off to hear the band warming up the stage, at which point i remembered that my school m8tes band are due to play again there this year, but i missed them as due on later in the week .
