| A date on Trio 3 Last thursday was a good friends birthday, and he organised a trip out on Trio 3, Skippered by bumble, who is not only a very good skipper, is also a patient teacher, very handy in my case. Jolly Piscator picked me up at some horrible hour in the morning, about 5.30am, and we made our way down to Hayling, Stopping for fuel and seeing this headline  rendevousing at Paige Angling to buy some squid. Due to the weather changing on us, our plans had changed a bit. We had expected to do some feathering, then abream session, followed by some time chasing smoothies and tope. The pan now was to go about 14 miles out and drift over a known sandbar for Bass, then seeing what we could get a bit further in. Things started of very well, JP has a mackie on the first drif, second drifted I had a nice bass, and some points too.  A couple of drifts later, JP picked up his first ever bass, something he had been after for some time.  Most of us on the boat managed to get soem bass, I had a nice brace, both were new pbs, although that is not a huge achievement, but one guy on the boat picked up 5. Sadly the wind really picked up. We had a few on the boat who had never fished before, or their first time on a boat, so they were at the stern, the strong wind combined witjh a very strong tide made fishing from teh side of the boat very tricked, we had moved over a wreck or reef, cabn't quite remember which, where I lost a set of tackle having had a bit, which I thought might be a tope,so left it to develope, stupid me, must have been a conger. Anyway, those at the stern managed to get a few smoothies, using weights over 12 oir 1lb. I found that due to the boat moving my line would rub on the hull so I packed up early. I did managed to get one fo the two 'Muppet of the day', awards, by leaving my tackle box open, and when we were all in the cabin, whilst on the move because it was going to be wet, the sun came out, so I said, "I'm just going to get some sun" going outside just as the boat hit a wave, soaking me. __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril Last edited by fullcreel; 08-01-2010 at 03:15 PM.
