A nice spot of fishing at West bexington

Suppose to be an early finish from work Friday afternoon but as usual when planning to finish early every thing that could prolong the day did.
Got home at 5.15 and a quick phone call from Reg ment I had an hour left to get some grub and get fishing gear together ready for an outing to west bexington.
Got there just after 7 and beach was shoulder to shoulder with anglers and day trippers alike decided to walk down the beach back towards portland and managed to find a spot between some people only a 5 min walk from the wooden walk way which was good as dont like the a long treck back to the car.
As we were setting up noticed people either side where bringing in mackies so reg chucked on some feathers and after a few cast managed a single mackie for fresh bait later on.
all set up and darkness setting in baited up and with in a few mins Reg and I was into the poor cod. (I think thats what they are?)

after we had a few of these using worm bait tipped with fresh mackie we tried different rigs with different bait ie squid in hope of some thing different even a dog fish would of been nice at this point but we were both hoping for a smooth hound as not yet caught one but still nothing different came apart from this Pouting that I managed near the end of the night.
[IMG][/IMG] I think that's what it is?
I forgot to mention did also catch four lots of feathers with weights.
One set did put up a huge fight and I was certain I was in to a very big fish and I felt as big as poor cod when I landed it.
2o'clock came and reg and I packed up and headed back to the car for the drive home.
A good night all in all but any tips on how to fish past the pour cod and target different species bigger or better fish ?

Feel free to name the Species in the pics as I am still not 100%

Cheers buddy glad about the naming of them as was not sure, maybe we will just have to try different locations as this is the second time we have caught these fish at this spot, really would like to get a nice smooth hound.

You could always try a couple of small hardbacks lackied to the hook , they will catch the hounds and the mini species will leave them alone
